First of all, I would like to report that I am in Nashville, TN - the home of so many many talented visual and musical artists.  The concentration of talent here is almost overwhelming but also incredibly inspirational.  I am thinking I will bust out my camera tomorrow, but so far, I have been taking it easy and relaxing all day long.  It's been so incredible to see so many friends and faces that I have not seen in so long.  

Thank you, Nashville.  

Next, I am going to post my senior show in a little bit.  Be patient and know that my concept changed at the last minute so it's not actually what I thought [and probably wrote about] before.  I revisited an old project and finally completed it, shooting more, revising the imagery and rewriting the artist statement.  

Be excited!!!!

Also, last weekend I got to do a photo shoot for a latte art workshop that was put together by McConn Coffee Co., where I work at school and taught by the incredibly talented baristas at Alliance World Coffees in Muncie, Indiana.

The workshop was not only a great learning experience but tons of fun.  McConn baristas of all skill sets came out to learn something new.  Some work was beautiful and some was just plain funny.

Senior Show Coming Up!

My senior show is coming up reeeeeally soon.  All of the images for my concept were due today and it was truly an experience.  There were some complications with approval of my advisor but the show is finished and brilliant and complete.  I feel very good about it right now.  Tomorrow the professors will meet, critique and approve or deny certain pieces.  From there is the process of framing and preparing for show.  

Please come if you are able.  There will be a snacks and punch!

Lots of Updates

Well,

I am back at school for my last semester (sigh of relief) and busier than I have ever been before.

My senior show is coming up and I am pretty behind on the work relating to getting it all done.

I will keep the concept and everything a secret for now.  Hopefully that will draw people to come.  It's still unclear as to where the show will be, and hopefully the location my group proposed will be approved by tomorrow.  If not, the search will continue.

My images for that are due on February 11th for review, critique and, panel approval.  Final submission will be the hanging on February 19th.  The show is on the following Monday the 22nd.

If you can, I would love to see as many people as possible.  This has been an incredible journey to get this far and I am really proud of the work and concept I'm dealing with.  I hope to share it with as many people as possible.  That day will really be a special time of celebration for me.

That's my plug for now.  Another will most definitely be coming especially when I figure out the location.  :o)

In other news, I did a documentary shoot of my mom when I was at home that I STILL haven't had the time to edit through.  I love taking pictures of my parents.  I'll get those up here when I finally get to them.

My new camera came in.  I have upgraded from my little Rebel xt to a (still older version but WAY nicer) 1DS Mark II.  The camera is beautiful and I am really happy with it.

Yesterday in the midst of working test prints in Van Dyke Brown for my show, I did a product shoot for the coffee shop I work at, McConn.  We came out with a new drink recently, a mixture of yogourt and our frozen Jet Tea Smoothie.

Allright.  So the site is up and running.  Officially.  There are probably still kinks that need to be sorted out, but hopefully we can all look past that and see the work that has been put in so far.  I will be continuing to work on the site, fixing it up to the best of my abilities.

I'm really excited.  Hope you enjoy it!

New Year, New Work and a Goal.

It's been a while since I've updated the world on my work recently.  The past week and a half has been insanity, leaving school and attending Casey and Jeremiah Schlotman's wedding, finding myself in a surprising position to have to help shoot the wedding because of ridiculous weather problems.  Helping out was a huge learning experience, using Casey's equipment which is amazing but was unfamiliar.  I haven't even been able to see the pictures yet (long story) but I think it turned out okay.

It was quite the learning experience and I'm really glad I was there to be able to help out.

Since then, I've taken a little bit of time of thinking of photography.  I did some crafty work, making hair clips of fabric rosettes.  I got inspired by the craft gallery we had at school and tried my hand at it.  They are really simple and I am pleased with the results.

Also.  Today I took pictures of my dad.  He is a woodworker.  He loves making model boats.  I think in some ways that he imagines he is making real boats when he works on the tiny boat parts.  This particular model boat he's been working on since he was in high school.  Talk about a long-term project!  I wrote a poem about this once.  I'm not sure exactly where it is right now otherwise I would include it.  For now, enjoy the pictures.

The other thing is that I have revamped the design for my website.  I hope to have it up and running in the next two days.  I liked the design for my zen garden site that I did a while back so I reused the graphic I made and am using it for my website.
